Nothing beats the classic Ant pattern when the trout are keyed in on these insects. Ants are very effective when fished under overhanging trees or brush, especially in the late Summer when other bug hatches are thin. A good rule to follow; when fishing in August use Tricos in the morning and ants in the afternoon. Tied on a Daiichi 1180 barbed, or a Daiichi 1190 (or a TMC 100) barbless, chemically sharpened dry fly hook.
