The blueberg was invented by Michigan guide John Kluesing to represent young King Salmon after they hatch and head toward the Great Lakes or ocean. The Blueberg is very effective on Spring Steelhead in rivers that have Fall spawning runs of King Salmon. A weighted version is also available which is best fished with a full sinking or sink tip line, or a sinking leader. The Blueberg is most effective when swung near active Steelhead. This fly is tied on a Tiemco 700 heavy wire chemically sharpened Salmon hook.
