Invented by Ray Schmidt this is a simple yet highly effective caddis imitation. This is a very good fly in the Fall when steelies feed heavily on caddis nymphs. In the Spring this fly produces well in low, clear water with heavy angler pressure. This is an excellent fly to use as a dropper behind streamers, nymphs, or spey flies. The Schmidt's Caddis is tied on a Daiichi X-point heavy wire scud hook (X120).
