This is my version of the quintessential “yarn egg fly.” These Egg flies are constructed from McFly foam and are not overly dense as the standard commercial egg flies are. This allows light to pass through the egg making it appear more naturally translucent. When the water is low and clear, and the fishing pressure is high, the smaller sizes are more effective on wary fish. The size 8s are tied on Daiichi X-510 heavy wire X-point egg hooks with Kevlar thread for increased durability. The size 12s are tied on X120 hooks using gel spun thread.
