Paraleptophlebia adoptiva, also called Slate Winged Mahogany or Blue Quill, is one of the earliest Mayfly hatches of the season. This abundant, widespread mayfly emerges around midday after the water temperature has been above 50 degrees for a few days. I designed this pattern a number of years ago and have had very good early season success with it. Tied on a Daiichi 1190 (Tiemco 100) barbless, or Daiichi 1180 barbed, chemically sharpened dry fly hook.
