Even though various authors disagree on this flies’ linage, as well as its name, there is no doubt that the Renegade is one of the most effective attractor dry flies ever designed. The rear hackle adds much needed flotation without sacrificing the flies’ ability to hook fish. The white hackle at the front of the hook adds great low-light visibility. Sandwiched in the middle is peacock herl which is one of the greatest fish attracting materials ever, plus the rear tinsel tag adds just a touch of flash. Simple, well-designed, and effective the Renegade is the epitome a great attractor fly pattern. Tied on a Daiichi 1180 barbed, or a Daiichi 1190 (or a TMC 100) barbless, chemically sharpened dry fly hook.
