The Wet Skunk, a.k.a. the Michigan Wet Skunk, or Au Sable Wet Skunk, was designed by Earl Madsen of Grayling, Michigan. This fly produces extremely well on trout, smallmouth bass and panfish. Many anglers recommend fishing the Wet Skunk on overcast days. It is also a great fly to use as a trailer behind a large streamer. The Wet Skunk was one of the first patterns to utilize rubber strips as legging material. Also see its dry-fly brother; the Dry Skunk. Tied on a Daiichi 1720 barbed, or a Tiemco 5263BL barbless, chemically sharpened 3x long hook.
