This pattern, developed by Kelly Galloup, is another of my “go to” streamer patterns. When fished with a downstream jerk/strip retrieve this fly produces very aggressive strikes from large brown trout. This pattern is effective anywhere sculpins are found. The Woolly Sculpin is also very effective on lakes for largemouth bass and pike. You can work the fly near the surface as well as with a sinking line using an erratic retrieve. This is a large, bulky fly so a stout 6 weight rod is required. Tied on a Tiemco 300 chemically sharpened streamer hook.
