The Brown Drake, or emphemera simulans, is a large mayfly that is widely distributed across the U.S. Hatches occur in June in the Midwest and East, July or later in the West. Simulans emerges from its nymphal state quickly, thus emerger patterns are very effective if fished with some action. This pattern also works well when used as a dropper behind a retrieved streamer.
