The Brown Drake, or emphemera simulans, is a large mayfly that is widely distributed across the U.S. Hatches occur in June in the Midwest and East, July or later in the West. Brown Drake mating swarms are indeed impressive to behold. Patience is the key here as spinner falls are often quite unpredictable. The reward is well worth the wait.
