Ephemerella subvaria or Dark Hendrickson is one of the season’s first major mayfly hatches. In the Northeast and upper Midwest the hatch usually lasts for 2-3 weeks. Use this nymph pattern in the days leading up to the hatch or during morning while the hatch is progressing.
