Ephemerella subvaria or the Dark Hendrickson is one of the season’s first major mayfly hatches. In the Northeast and upper Midwest the hatch usually lasts for 2-3 weeks. Parachutes are excellent patterns to use when the duns are hatching, usually in the mid to late afternoon.
